We support renewable energy and partner with our customers to ensure safe and reliable interconnection of renewable energy into the electric grid.
Metering (also known as neighborhood net metering, community-based renewable
energy, or community solar) allows multiple users to purchase shares or
subscriptions in a single renewable energy generating facility. Participants
receive compensation for the renewable generation without installing actual
generation equipment at their individual premise. For example, this could take
the form of residents in a neighborhood or condominium buying shares in a
medium-sized solar array.
A Guide to Community Solar from the U.S. Department of Energy contains useful information for utility, private, and non-profit projects.
