Electricity competition began in Maryland in July 2000, giving you the opportunity to choose the company that provides your electricity. As your local utility, Pepco continues delivering electricity safely and reliably to your home or business, regardless of which electricity supplier you choose. And Pepco still maintains the power lines and responds to your emergency and routine service calls, just as before.
Recognizing that you may have questions, Pepco wants to help you navigate through the world of customer choice - also referred to as electricity deregulation or competition.

Pepco Speakers Bureau
A member of Pepco’s Speakers Bureau can visit your citizens’ or residents’ association or other concerned group in Montgomery and Prince George's counties to make an in-person presentation on Customer Choice, the electricity marketplace and related issues.
