Pepco's Energy Saving Programs

Save Energy. Save Money. Save the Planet.

We are committed to helping our customers use less energy, save money and improve the environment.

Pepco's Energy Wise Rewards program is a new, voluntary residential direct load control program in the District of Columbia. Through this program, Pepco is working with customers to improve energy efficiency and reduce strain on the electric grid by decreasing electricity consumption during peak energy use periods. Participating customers allow Pepco to remotely cycle off the compressor on their home's central air conditioning unit or heat pump during specific time periods on peak-use days, at a participation level selected by the customer. In exchange, customers are rewarded financially with incentive payments and reduced electricity consumption.

Green Energy DC is a unique resource for everything you need to know about energy efficiency and renewable energy programs, products and services in the District of Columbia. The Clean and Affordable Energy Act of 2008 (CAEA) requires the Mayor, acting through the District Department Of the Environment (DDOE), to contract with a private entity to conduct sustainable energy programs on behalf of the District of Columbia. The CAEA authorizes the creation of a Sustainable Energy Utility (SEU) and designates the SEU to be the one-stop resource for energy efficiency and renewable energy services for District residents and businesses. The SEU will serve under a performance-based contract with DDOE, with input and recommendations coming from the SEU Advisory Board and oversight from the Council of the District of Columbia.
