District of Columbia Customer Choice
For many years, Pepco was the sole electricity supplier in Washington, D.C., and suburban Maryland. We generated electricity and delivered it to you at rates set by regulatory commissions. In 2000, Pepco’s electricity market changed. We no longer generate our own electric power, and competing electricity suppliers are allowed to market their electric supply to D.C. customers. Pepco will continue to supply electricity to customers who do not choose an alternative supplier under regulated rates Standard Offer Service.
Whether or not you choose another supplier, Pepco still delivers electricity to all customers via an extensive network of electric power lines that we maintain. We also respond to all emergency and routine service calls.
Pepco Speakers Bureau
A member of Pepco’s Speakers Bureau can visit your local Chamber of Commerce, neighborhood advisory commission (ANC), business association or other concerned group in the District to make a presentation on Customer Choice, the electricity marketplace and related issues.
