  • How do I report an outage?

    You can use your account number to report an outage using our Outage Reporting Form, or you can call 1-877-737-2662.

    Where can I receive updates?

    You can check the status of an outage with the Outage Reporting Form. Please check to make sure your current telephone number is displayed on your Pepco account so that our automated Outage Management System (OMS) system can identify you and record your outage when you call. You can update your information by calling 202-835-1007.

    I found a downed wire, what should I do?

    Please do not touch the wire, since it could still be live and dangerous to your safety. Contact us immediately at 1-877-737-2662 or 202-872-2369. 

    How will damaged equipment be repaired?

    We restore equipment in the following order:

    • Downed live wires or potentially life-threatening situations and public health and safety facilities without power
    • Transmission lines serving thousands of customers
    • Substation equipment
    • Main distribution lines serving large numbers of customers
    • Secondary lines serving neighborhoods
    • Service lines to individual homes and businesses

    What if I am on life-support equipment?

    If you or someone you know uses life-support equipment that requires electricity to operate, identify a location with emergency power capabilities and make plans to go there or to a hospital during a prolonged outage. If you have not done so previously, please contact our Customer Care Service Center at 202-833-7500 to enroll in our Emergency Medical Equipment Notification Program or click here to learn more.
