Life Pieces to Masterpieces -- 15 Year Anniversary Exhibit
January 17 - February 10

Life Pieces to Masterpieces (LPTM), a phenomenal youth art program, is returning to the Edison Place Art Gallery from January 17 to February 10. LPTM is an organization that guides its members, African American males between the ages of 3 and 21, in changing life challenges into possibilities using various forms of art. During the past 15 years, the organization has changed the lives of more than 1,000 African American males living east of the Anacostia River. Our apprentices have proven that their power is limitless, going on from LPTM to become teachers, graphic designers, chefs, artists, clergymen and even military personnel.

In a city where African American males are more likely to go to prison than to go to college, 100 percent of LPTM's apprentices graduate on time and go on to pursue some form of post-secondary education.

This exhibition, which features works from various periods in LPTM's 15-year history, is a visual celebration of the organization's success and of the successes of the young men themselves. The exhibit also affords LPTM the opportunity to share some of its finest works with the general public in advance of their new corporate art sales program. Through this program, LPTM will target downtown businesses with different opportunities to partner with LPTM and to purchase or display their artwork in their lobbies, conference rooms and offices.
