The winter heating season is approaching. Thousands of District of Columbia residents may be eligible to receive discounts on their winter heating bills from Pepco, Verizon, Washington Gas and Washington Water and Sewer Authority, plus financial benefits through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance program (LIHEAP).
Representatives from all four companies will be available to accept applications and to answer questions regarding discounts. To qualify, residents must meet income guidelines and bring proof of income, current utility bills, proof of age and dependents, and official Social Security documents for each household member.
