Pepco Sends Crews to Assist in Restoring Power in Tornado’s Wake

| For Immediate Release Pepco today dispatched more than 30 repair and construction crews to assist its neighboring utility, Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO), in restoring power following Sunday`s devastating tornado. Crews and their vehicles were sent from Pepco service facilities in Rockville and Forestville, Md., along with company contract crews from Rockingham Construction and W.A. Chester, a Pepco subsidiary. SMECO requested Pepco`s assistance after daybreak revealed the extent of the damage to the electric distribution system in Charles and Calvert counties.
