Utility Discount Day Set for November 6, 2003

| For Immediate Release On Thursday, November 6, from 8a.m.-7p.m., Pepco, Verizon, Washington Gas and the D.C. Water and Sewer Authority are co-sponsoring Utility Discount Day, a one-stop opportunity for qualified DC residents to sign-up for discounts and financial assistance on their utility bills. Residents may also be eligible for discounts through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Residents will complete an application to determine eligibility, which is based on annual salary and number of persons in their household. Residents must bring proof of household income; identification; Social Security Card; recent rent/lease receipt (if heat is included in the rent); and recent utility bills for electric, gas, telephone (proof of age), and water (proof of homeownership). This event is also sponsored by the District of Columbia Public Service Commission, the Office of People’s Counsel and the DC Energy Office. |
