Pepco Expands Bill Payment Options to Include Global Express Locations

Pepco customers can now pay their bills at more than 100 Global Express locations in the Washington metropolitan area, in addition to several existing convenient payment methods.

With the addition of Global Express, Pepco customers now have 12 different ways and more than 200 locations to pay their electric bills. These include paying by check or a major credit card over the phone; in person at the more than 200 Global and America's Cash Express (ACE) locations and some banks that are authorized payment locations; over the Internet at www.pepco.com; using a pre-authorized transfer from a checking account; or by mail. Customers also can drop their payments at three Pepco payment deposit boxes 24 hours a day.

Global Express is one of the nation's largest money order and bill payment companies, serving 14 eastern U.S. states. To find a Global Express location, call (301) 588-2870, Ext. 400.

"While over 70 percent of Pepco customers pay their bills by mail, increasing numbers are choosing to make payments electronically and at authorized locations convenient to where they live or work - like Global and ACE," said Paula Blair, manager of Pepco's Customer Operations Division. "Both these trends have brought about a 10-to-35-percent decrease in walk-ins at some of our customer service centers."

As a result, Pepco will adjust business hours at two of its four payment centers to reflect the decrease in customer visits. Beginning Feb. 1, the company's offices in Forestville and Rockville will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Current hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

To pay at Global Express or ACE locations, customers must bring their Pepco bill. Both companies charge a small service fee for each bill that is paid; Pepco does not profit from this fee.
