Pepco Awards Lockheed Martin Contract for Commercial Conservation Programs

Green Energy Efficiency Programs to Provide Incentives and Savings

WASHINGTON - Pepco has awarded Lockheed Martin a contract to run four energy efficiency and conservation programs for non-residential customers in Montgomery and Prince George's counties of Maryland. Also known as "demand side management," the programs are part of Pepco's Blueprint for the Future, a plan to help meet the region's energy and environmental challenges through a combination of energy efficiency and new environmentally green technologies.

Under the contract, Lockheed Martin will encourage Pepco's commercial, governmental and industrial customers as well as builder/developers, and trade allies to identify and implement energy reduction measures related to building performance.

The Prescriptive Rebate Program, Custom Incentive Program, HVAC Efficiency Program, and Building Commissioning and Operations and Maintenance Program are designed to encourage the use of cost-effective, energy efficient products and design practices during new construction, renovations, remodels, and equipment replacement events.

"Pepco supports Governor Martin O'Malley's EmPower Maryland initiative to reduce energy consumption in the state by 15 percent by the year of 2015," said Thomas Graham, President, Pepco Region. "The programs will encourage electrical, mechanical and lighting systems improvements, and employ best practices for building commissioning, as well as improving building operation and maintenance practices".

The budget for the non-residential programs from 2009 to 2011 is $15.6 million. For more information on these programs, visit www.pepco.com/business or, contact Lockheed Martin at
