Montgomery County Under Winter Storm Watch
Customers Asked to Be Prepared
WASHINGTON - Pepco is closely monitoring the approach of the mixture of snow and rain, which will strike the Pepco service territory Saturday . Weather forecasts are calling for snow and rain, and the potential for several inches of heavy wet snow primarily in Montgomery County, which the National Weather Service has placed under a Winter Storm Watch.
Heavy wet snow combined with the leaves that remain on trees will add to the weight of the tree limbs bringing them down onto poles and wires creating severe damage and power outages.
Pepco has scheduled additional crews including tree trimming crews and support personnel to work throughout the storm. In addition, extra crews are on call to assist with the restoration effort as needed.
If Power Goes Out and to Report Downed Wires Call 1-877-737-2662
Pepco strongly urges everyone to call 1-877-Pepco-62 (1-877-737-2662) to report power outages and downed wires (stay away from downed lines and report them immediately).
Customers also are asked to call Pepco to report outages even if their neighbors already may have called. Pepco's automated outage reporting system is the most effective way to report an outage because it immediately feeds information into computers that rapidly identify problem areas and dispatch repair crews, so that power can be restored as quickly as possible.
Generally, the power restoration sequence is as follows:
