WASHINGTON, D.C. - Pepco Region President Thomas H. Graham has been appointed to serve as vice chairman of the board of directors for Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD), in Washington, D.C., Pepco announced today. The CEWD is a non-profit organization that helps ensure that the nation's electric, gas, and nuclear energy companies have a skilled workforce to meet the energy demands of tomorrow.
Graham has actively been involved with the nonprofit organization as a director on the board for two years.
"Working with programs like CEWD's, utilities and affiliates have made great strides in developing better training programs to create the next generation of the energy workforce," Graham said.
The organization is the first partnership between utilities, industry associations, contractors and unions to focus on the need to build a skilled workforce pipeline for future industry jobs.
"CEWD leadership continues to represent the energy industry and its needs at high-level meetings to emerge as a strong and effective leader in national workforce development issues and challenges facing the energy industry," said Susan N. Graham now serves as vice chairman of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce. He also serves on the executive committee board for Leadership Prince George's and the CEO Advisory Committee for the American Association of Blacks in Energy, in addition to other affiliations. Graham is a former board member of the D.C. Chamber of Commerce.
CEWD is a non-profit consortium of electric, natural gas, and nuclear utilities; their associations - the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), American Gas Association (AGA), Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI), and National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) - and the unions who serve these industries - the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and the Utility Workers Union of America, AFL-CIO (UWUA).
