Pepco Edison Place Gallery features Exhibit on Salvation Army

"Others" Focuses on the Legacy and Impact of Salvation Army in National Capital Region

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Pepco Edison Place Gallery is observing National Salvation Army Week with an exhibit entitled "Others" from April 30 to May 17, 2013. "Others" consists of some three dozen photographs exploring The Salvation Army's legacy and impact in our nation's capital.

"Others" focuses on the development of The Salvation Army in the United States, while providing an in depth look at the individuals the organization supports and serves in the Washington, D.C. region. The exhibit's more than three dozen historical and contemporary images underscore the growth of The Salvation Army in World War I and II, the involvement of the First Ladies of the United States and photographs of the present-day services provided by the organization.

Vice President, corporate citizenship & social responsibility, Debbi Jarvis says, "We are happy to have the Salvation Army as a partner and to help present an historic exhibit on the organization's lasting role in the Washington, D.C. area."

An opening reception is planned for May 2 from 2 p.m. 7 p.m. at the gallery which is located at 702 Eighth Street, NW between G and H streets, one block west of the Verizon Center.

Pepco and the Salvation Army have had a long-standing, strong partnership. In 2011, Pepco became the first corporation in the District of Columbia to host a Red Kettle Campaign, and last year, Pepco employees volunteered to ring the bell outside Edison Place. The 2012 Red Kettle Campaign Kickoff was held in the Pepco Edison Place Gallery.
