Pepco Celebrates National Volunteer Week

WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 25, 2017) Pepco celebrates National Volunteer Week by participating in several employee-led service projects in the District of Columbia and Maryland.

Pepco and our parent company, Exelon, recognize this week by empowering employees to design their service projects on education, environmental stewardship, diversity and inclusion, and community enrichment.

"We are proud to facilitate such a dynamic culture of service here at Pepco. We encourage our employees to not only take part in these community service initiatives, but to take the lead and bring their ideas and passions to the table as well," said Debbi Jarvis, vice president, Pepco Holdings Corporate Relations. "We do more than provide safe and reliable energy for our customers - our employees actively support the communities where they live and work every day."

Volunteer activities include:

  • April 25: Pepco employees will be serving as classroom assistants at Bright Beginnings
  • April 26: We will be at Martha's Table assisting in sorting donations, hanging merchandise, and providing additional support to this organization.
  • April 27: We will conclude the week by volunteering at A Wider Circle where we will be facilitating a workforce development boot camp. Volunteers will be working one-on-one with participants on online job searches, crafting targeted cover letters, and application submissions. It will be an exciting day where the community will get to work directly with Pepco employees to help them prepare for the workforce.

In addition to Pepco's National Volunteer Week activities, employees across Exelon will participate in more than 125 employee-led community service projects in April. Pepco is an active corporate citizen supporting educational, environmental, arts and culture, and community development organizations.  Pepco employees donated thousands of hours in time and talent as board members, coaches and volunteers to support community non-profit organizations in 2016.
