"Textures of Influence," an exhibition of 20th Century Japanese woodblock prints, is on display at Pepco's Edison Place Gallery now through July 26. The show opened today as part of the 2003 National Cherry Blossom Festival and features 90 works showing traditional and Western influences.

The prints, including the work of 25 Japanese artists, are from the University of Maryland University College's (UMUC) Asian collections. Pepco's Edison Place Gallery opened last fall at the company's new headquarters building, at 701 Ninth Street, N.W., in Washington's East End. Hours for the current exhibition are Monday - Friday, noon to 5 p.m., with special Saturday hours on March 29 and April 5 from noon to 8 p.m. Edison Place Gallery is a 4,100-square-foot art space located on the ground floor of the Pepco building.

The gallery entrance is on Eighth Street, between G and H streets. In an additional collaboration, UMUC and Pepco sponsored a symposium March 27 on 20th Century Japanese prints featuring noted scholars and experts who lecture and publish extensively on the topic.
