3 p.m. OUTAGE UPDATE

Pepco has restored power to 200,000 customers who lost power due to Hurricane Isabel. At the height of the storm, 570,000 of Pepco`s 720,000 customers were without electricity. These revised numbers reflect new damage assessments.

Nearly 370,000 customers remain without power, and crews continue to work round the clock to restore power to customers as quickly as possible. Pepco estimates that nearly all customers will have power restored by Friday. Currently there are 570 crews on the street with 200 more scheduled to work through the night. Another 20 crews are en route from Kentucky.

During the night, Pepco crews concentrated on restoring power to major transportation arteries and traffic signals. Crews also were able to restore power to 18 feeder lines bringing back thousands of customers. Work continues around the service area.

Pepco urges customers to call in if they are still without power and notice that their neighbors have regained power. The number to call is 1-877-PEPCO62.

As of 2:30 p.m. today the following outages are reported on the Pepco system:

District of Columbia: 87,000
Montgomery County 155,000
Prince George`s County 128,000

DRY ICE UPDATE

Pepco will not be distributing more dry ice directly to customers. The company handed out about 300,000 pounds of dry ice on Friday before its supplies were depleted Friday night. Pepco consulted with health officials and others who advise that dry ice is not useful in preserving food after power has been out for 48 hours. Additional supplies in the pipeline will be distributed to local governments in each jurisdiction.
