Pepco Asks Customers Still Without Power to Call In

As of 3:00 PM today, fewer than 5,000 Pepco customers remain without power due to Isabel. Shortly after the hurricane, Pepco estimated that the vast majority of affected customers would be restored by today, and this is the case. Pepco is contacting customers still without power from Isabel to let them know the status of their repairs. If you still don`t have power from Isabel and you haven`t heard from us, please call Pepco at 1-877-Pepco-62 (1-877-737-2662).

Crews will not be released until all customers are restored and they will continue to work through the night. Once all Pepco customers who lost power from Isabel are restored, we have agreed to release some crews to assist Dominion Power, which still has about 200,000 customers out in southern Virginia, where the hurricane came ashore.

Pepco is continuing to get reports of trees falling on power lines either from cleanup activities or weakening from previous damage. This is causing a few random outages and we are working on those as well.

Originally, more than half a million Pepco customers were left without electricity from Isabel. Three-quarters of the customers who lost power were restored by noon Tuesday and 90% of them were back in service by noon Wednesday.

Of customers in Pepco's service territory remaining without electricity as of 3:00 p.m., today, the break down by jurisdiction is as follows:

Area
Total Customers
Affected Customers
District of Columbia 224,000 1,500
Montgomery County 286,000 2,700
Prince George`s County 210,000 1,700
Totals 720,000 5,900
