Outage Update 4 p.m.
Pepco Crews Worked Through Night to Restore Power

Pepco repair crews continue working this afternoon to restore power to customers without service due to high winds that have battered the Washington area since yesterday. Most of the outages have been caused by tree limbs blown into power lines and by fallen trees that have taken down lines and damaged poles.

Pepco is experiencing new outages this afternoon as winds continue to buffet the area, and estimates that the majority of the remaining customers will be restored by midnight tonight. Crews will be working throughout the night in areas where outages affect small numbers of customers.

As of 4 p.m. the outages totaled: 

Pepco strongly urges customers to make safety a priority by staying away from downed power lines. All downed lines should be treated as if they are energized and individuals should not approach or touch them. If citizens see a downed wire or have a power outage, they should call 1-877-PEPCO-62 and report it.
