Pepco Prepared for Severe Weather

For Immediate Release
November 19, 2003

Pepco prepared today to respond to power outages in advance of a severe weather warning for the Washington Metropolitan area. The Company's crews and contract crews are prepared to work extended work hours, if necessary, to restore service to customers as quickly and as safely as possible. The company also is in contact with other utilities in the region in the event that mutual assistance is needed for power restoration.

Pepco's three service centers are stocked with adequate supplies of utility poles, transformers, cable and other equipment. Storm managers are closely monitoring weather forecasts and are in frequent contact with emergency management officials in the District of Columbia and Maryland to coordinate emergency response as appropriate.

Pepco urges customers to report any power outages or downed power lines immediately by calling 1-877-Pepco-62 (1-877-737-2662). Customers should make safety a priority by staying away from downed power lines, which should be treated as if they are energized. A list of storm preparation tips is available at Pepco's Storm Center, www.pepco.com.
