Pepco Brings Life to East End

For Immediate Release
March 9, 2004

Pepco's Edison Place Art Gallery, located in the company's downtown Washington, D.C. headquarters, will host an exhibit of works presented by Life Pieces to Masterpieces throughout the month of March.  Founded in 1996, Life Pieces to Masterpieces helps young boys living in the housing projects east of the Anacostia River, many of whom are disengaged from school or victims of abuse, translate their life experiences into artistic expressions.

Life Pieces to Masterpieces is the fifth organization to showcase artwork in Pepco's gallery since its opening in 2002.  The exhibit will feature approximately 68 works by these school-age apprentices.  A selection of paintings will be available for purchase throughout the exhibit, with all proceeds benefiting Life Pieces to Masterpieces.  The full exhibit will be on display through March 26.

The Edison Place Art Gallery, at 701 Ninth Street, N.W. (gallery entrance on Eighth Street) is available to non-profit organizations that wish to showcase an artist or exhibit.  Pepco plans to host four additional art exhibits in 2004.  The gallery is open to the public Tuesday through Friday, noon - 4 p.m.
