Customers demanded 5,440 megawatts of electricity at 7:58 a.m., surpassing the previous winter peak of 5,393 megawatts set Jan. 23, 2003. A final tabulation could result in a slight adjustment in the amount of power consumed by customers.
Pepco's all-time record peak demand is 6,364 megawatts set July 29, 2002.
