Pepco's Rockville Service Center was recognized today for outstanding leadership in waste reduction and recycling efforts in 2004 during Montgomery County's Sixth Annual Recycling Awareness Week Awards ceremony.
The Rockville facility last year recycled nearly 400,000 pounds of scrap metal, wooden poles, computer products, transformers and various packing materials and paper products.
"Pepco is committed to going beyond merely complying with federal, state and local environmental laws to embracing environmental excellence and stewardship," said Thomas H. Graham, President, Pepco Region. "This also makes good business sense, because we are often able to purchase recycled goods at less cost than new."
