AARP has named Pepco as one of the best employers in the nation for workers 50 and older.
Pepco was the only D.C.-based company to make the list of 50 companies recognized for "exemplary practices for older employees."
AARP made its selections based on a variety of factors, including best practices in the areas of phased retirement, 401(k) company contributions, flextime, job sharing, telecommuting and compressed schedules. Pepco was recognized "for devising innovative methods" to rehire retirees while maintaining their pension and medical benefits.
"This is an honor for PHI and is tangible recognition of our commitment to maintaining a diverse and talented workforce. It also is reflective of our corporate vision and values." said Ernest Jenkins, Vice President, People Strategy & Human Resources, for Pepco Holdings, Inc.
The AARP, formerly known as the American Association of Retired Persons, is the national association representing people 50 years or older.
