Pepco employees will participate in the annual spring cleanup of the Anacostia River shoreline. Pepco's Benning Service Center, 3400 Benning Rd., in Northeast Washington, will serve as the staging area for cleanup activities April 21, 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Volunteers will also plant trees, remove debris, and help restore the landscape.
"We must strive to use resources efficiently, and support efforts to preserve the natural habitat by continually improving the company's environmental performance," said Thomas Graham, Pepco Region President.
The Anacostia Cleanup coincides with the 30th Anniversary of Earth Day, with the river cleanup effort organized by Capital River Relief, a partnership of environmental, community, business and government organizations dedicated to improving the quality of the Anacostia and Potomac rivers and watersheds.
