BMW will be bringing one of their new hydrogen vehicles to Edison Place on Thursday, November 1, to demonstrate the technology to PHI and the media. Hydrogen is a potential fuel source that one could one day power the car of the future. While some of these technologies may be 10 to 20 years away from mainstream production, Pepco recognizes value in assessing today's technology and participating in the evolution of various automotive innovations.
At 10 a.m., BMW and PHI executives will have an opportunity to make a few remarks to the media. BMW positions this as a bridge technology, acknowledging the scarcity of hydrogen fueling stations. There is currently one hydrogen fueling station in the District of Columbia, located across the street from Pepco's Benning Service Center.
The vehicle has been shown in the DC area to small groups, including the US Senate Fuel Cell Committee, but there have been no large public demonstrations or demonstrations to local utilities or EEI.
WHAT: At 11 a.m. the vehicle will be available for demonstrations for a "ride and drive." This is an excellent opportunity to experience future technology today. WHEN: Thursday, November 1, 2007 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. WHERE : Edison Place, 701 Ninth St. NW Washington, D.C. The 8th Street sidewalk in front of the Edison Place Gallery for the media event.
