Pepco has donated $75,000 each to United Communities Against Poverty, Inc. (UCAP) and Catholic Charities of Montgomery County to help low-income families pay their utility bills.
"Pepco is pleased to provide assistance for disadvantaged residents in Montgomery and Prince George's counties to pay their energy bills this winter" said Kim Watson, Vice President, Pepco Maryland Affairs. The funds were raised from the Pepco Holdings, Inc's community foundation golf and tennis tournament.
UCAP is dedicated to serving the needs of low income residents through services and programs that not only alleviate the symptoms of poverty, but also address the causes of poverty. Catholic Charities provides an array of charitable services including emergency energy assistance. They reach approximately 100,000 people throughout the metropolitan area.
