Pepco's Emergency Services Partnership Program will maintain support this year for public safety partnerships in the District of Columbia and Maryland. The program provides resources for fire safety initiatives, first responder, community safety education and emergency preparedness.

"While we have a long working relationship with emergency service providers, the partnership formalizes and places an even greater emphasis on that cooperative effort," said Mike Maxwell, PHI's Vice President of Safety & Strategic Services.

Since 2004, he said Pepco, through its partnership program, has provided more than 7,000 regular smoke alarms and more than 250 special needs smoke alarms to fire services officials for distribution to residents. In addition, Pepco sponsors educational conferences that focus on safety and emergency preparedness.
 
This year, the partnership program will be a major sponsor of the Maryland Emergency Management Agency conference. The partnership program also will support a mass mailing of electrical safety information to fire department personnel throughout Pepco's service territory. In addition, Pepco will support the DC Fire & EMS Museum's effort to install a handicapped accessible elevator. "Once again Pepco has come forward in a time of need to assist our Nation's Capital, this time by helping ensure that everyone will be able to share the proud history of the District of Columbia's Fire and EMS Department," said DC Fire Chief Dennis Rubin.

Pepco has donated more than $300,000 in services for its Emergency Services Partnership Program since 2004.
