Focus on Improvement of the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers

Pepco is helping sponsor the Nation's River Bass Tournament Picnic and Weigh-In Celebration on Friday for area school students. Living Classrooms of the National Capital Region and Discovery Creek Children's Museum of Washington are hosting the tournament that will take place at the new National Harbor waterfront. The boats ship out at 7 a.m. and return for weigh-in at 11a.m.

More than 200 students from District of Columbia Metropolitan Area will participate in events planned around fishing, boating and the environmental stewardship of the Potomac and Anacostia rivers. "This is a great opportunity to get students out of the classroom to learn about environmental issues in a hands-on way," said Vincent Orange, Vice President, Pepco Region.

The tournament sponsors hope to make the event an annual celebration on the Potomac River to benefit youth and conservation programs in the National Capital Region. Pepco's participation is in keeping with its commitment to support environmental and energy-efficiency programs.
