Pepco Maintains Additional Crews Throughout the Weekend

All available crews will continue to work this weekend restoring electric service to Pepco customers. With safety as a primary concern during this spell of hot weather, crews are working around the clock in rotating shifts to return power to the remaining customers affected by the recent storms. The focus primarily is on the time consuming task of restoring power to small groups and individual customers. While the vast majority of our customers already have been restored, we expect most of the remaining customers will be restored by the end of the weekend. If customers are still without power, Pepco asks them to call the outage line at 1-877-737-2662 to report the outage.

Because the intense heat and humidity may last for several days, customers who are still without power should consider alternate arrangements, particularly for those with special needs, the elderly or very young children.

Until power is restored, please remember:

• Stay away from downed power lines. All downed lines should be treated as if they are energized, and individuals should not approach them or touch them.
• To report downed wires and outages, customers are asked to call 1-877-PEPCO-62 (1-877-737-2662).
• Extreme heat can be a danger to older people and those with medical conditions. Remember to check on elderly or home-bound neighbors, who may be susceptible to the effects of heat stress.
• Close all drapes/blinds on the sunny side of the house.
• Remember to drink plenty of fluids. During the warmer, daytime hours consider going to malls, libraries or other air-conditioned public spaces.
• If a family member appears overheated, use cool compresses to cool skin. Do not hesitate to contact a physician if you have a health-related question or concern.
