Pepco Goes Online to Speed Application for Electric Service Connections

Pepco now offers an online application process for new or upgraded electric service connections through its Web site, www.pepco.com/business/. Going digital will streamline the application process, enhance communication with Pepco's design engineers and shorten the time it takes to complete the job.

Filing electronically for all types of new or upgraded electric service connections will enable Pepco to serve its customers in a more timely and efficient manner. Customers can continue to apply for service connections by using the enclosed hard copy form and mailing it to Pepco, but by filing electronically customers can expect the following benefits:

· Save time spent on completing and then mailing/faxing/e-mailing hard copy service applications to Pepco. The new Web site application process enables customers to efficiently complete the service application form and automatically submit it to Pepco with a click of a mouse.

· Applications can be completed and submitted to Pepco anytime from any internet connected computer 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

· Applicants will receive an e-mail confirmation that will include the Pepco work request number and contact information. Customers will be able to check on their job status at any time by going to the Pepco Web site. Depending on the complexity of the project, customers may also choose to receive any of the following automatic status updates via e-mail:

o Project has reached engineering status, which means that one of Pepco's technical staff will be in contact with the customer to obtain additional information or visit the job site to identify the existing infrastructure and engineer the best service connection to meet the customer's needs.

o Payment has been received for the electric service connection.

o Pepco has received notice from the jurisdictional authority that the electrical inspection has been completed.

o Project has been sent to construction, which will include appropriate contact information for the Pepco construction office.

o Project is complete in construction.

· Customers have the flexibility to create customized templates for various types of projects to further speed up the application process.
