WHAT: Pepco to Hold News Conference on Status of Power Outages
WHO: Thomas H. Graham, President, Pepco Region
DATE: Friday, August 13, 2010
TIME: 4 p.m.
LOCATION: Oak Leaf Road and Lockwood Drive, White Oak, Md. Just off Colesville Rd.
Pepco officials will discuss the current status of its restoration efforts throughout the Washington Metropolitan area. As of 12:30 p.m., Pepco has restored power to more than 90,000 customers. About 28,000 customers remain without power because of the extremely violent August 12 thunderstorms that inflicted significant damage to Pepco's electric system.
The vast majority of outages, 23,500, are in Montgomery County; 3,300 are in the District of Columbia; and 1,500 are in Prince George's County.
Pepco crews, assisted by contractors, employees from other utilities, including our sister companies, and tree cutting crews, will continue to work around the clock until power has been restored to all customers.
