Crews Continue to Work Around the Clock Until Every Customer is Restored

Washington , D.C. - Pepco crews continue to repair damage and restore power from yesterday's extremely violent and damaging thunderstorms. Power has been restored to approximately 95,000 customers who were left without electric service as a result of yesterday's morning storm. Pepco also experienced additional outages from yesterday evening's storms that crossed over Montgomery County.

Most of the damage to the system was the result of trees, some split in half or ripped from the ground by winds of 60 miles per hour or greater, that brought down power lines throughout our service territory. Crews will continue to work around the clock until all customers are restored.

As of 5 p.m. approximately 19,000 customers remain out of service. This includes new outages in addition to customers affected from yesterday's morning storm. Mutual Assistance crews from outside the service territory and local contractor crews continue to work with Pepco crews nonstop to restore power to customers. The majority of customers without power are expected to be restored by midnight tonight, however, there will be outages extending into the weekend.
