Maryland Charity Honors Utility for Excellence in Giving

WASHINGTON - Thomas H. Graham, President, Pepco Region, accepted the Excellence in Partnership Award by The United Communities Against Poverty (UCAP) on Wednesday, November 10. Both Pepco and Mr. Graham were honored during the 2010 Awards Dinner and Silent Auction sponsored by UCAP.

"Pepco appreciates the opportunity to give and share within the community. It reminds all of us that the need is great and continues to impact each individual," says Graham. "We all have different gifts, but the gift of giving is one we can all take part in every day."

In addition to the over 10,000 hours of public service volunteered by Pepco's employees, Pepco also made financial contributions to a wide diversity of over 300 organizations in the communities we serve in excess of $2,000,000.

Graham is the President of the PHI Community Foundation. This year, the Foundation donated $260,000 to charities to help area residents in need with their winter energy bills. Proceeds were generated from the Foundation's 5th Annual Golf & Tennis Classic held in September. Over its five year history, the Foundation has exceeded over $1,000,000 in charitable contributions.

Graham has served as Chair of Leadership Prince George's County. Presently, he is a member of the American Association of Blacks in Energy CEO Advisory Council, Member of Prince George's County Public School System Advisory Committee, and Director of the Bowie State University Foundation, Prince George's County Economic Development Corporation, Strathmore Hall Foundation, Maryland and District of Columbia Chambers of Commerce, Heroes Inc, and Center for Energy Workforce Development.
