Pepco Chairman, President and CEO to Testify before House Economic Matters Committee

WASHINGTON - Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI) Chairman, President and CEO Joe Rigby is scheduled to testify before the House Economic Matters Committee in Annapolis at 2:30 p.m. today.

Mr. Rigby will address the January 26 storm and Pepco's restoration efforts following that storm.

"I deeply regret the inconvenience and hardship that the power outages from this recent heavy snowstorm caused our customers and communities," Rigby says in his prepared remarks. "I am here to tell you that Pepco has been making and will continue to make changes to the way it conducts business and to improve our service reliability. We will do better in preventing outages from occurring. We will manage our outage restoration process more effectively. And we will do a better job in communicating with our customers."

The statement adds, "Our six-point Reliability Enhancement Plan now has a budget for planned reliability expenditures in Pepco's Maryland region of $256 million over the next five years.

"I am accountable for this company's performance. I care about Pepco and its customers. Getting and keeping the lights on is personal with me, and you will see me demonstrate my commitment in the days and months to come."
