A Ferocious Windstorm on Saturday, Ice and Snowstorm late Monday
Pepco Mobilized More Than 800 Employees
WASHINGTON - Pepco restored power to the 150 customers who lost power due to the wintery mix of rain, ice and snow that passed through the Washington Metropolitan Region beginning late Monday and ending early Tuesday. Several hours before, Pepco completed restoration of more than 35,000 outages resulting from high winds causing tree limbs to come in contact with power lines.
Within 24 hours of completion of repairs from the ferocious windstorm, Pepco again mobilized for an approaching ice and snowstorm, culminating with more than 800 personnel including crews, contractors and customer service personnel prepared to restore power. Pepco also had contacted additional contract crews, who were ready to work if needed.
"Although the predicted impact of the ice and snowstorm did not materialize, Pepco was ready," said Thomas Graham, President, Pepco Region. "We will continue to execute our reliability enhancement plan, as we believe the benefits were realized during the weekend windstorm and during the overnight ice and snowstorm."
