PHI Chairman to Lead Saturday Cleanup at Kingman Island

Washington , D.C. -- Pepco's "Green Team" will be out in force on Saturday, April 9, helping to clean up the shoreline along the Anacostia River. Leading Pepco's team will be Joseph M. Rigby, Chairman, President and CEO of Pepco Holdings Inc., the utility's parent firm.

"Pepco has supported the Anacostia River Cleanup - and its sponsor/organizer, the Anacostia Watershed Society - for many years . We live and work here, and never forget that our customers do, too," Mr. Rigby said . "All of us share a commitment to helping restore the Anacostia River and its watershed to the beautiful natural resource it once was, providing recreation for our local communities and the most valuable resource in the world: clean water".

Pepco "Green Team" volunteers will gather in RFK Stadium Parking Lot #6 (adjacent to Kingman Island site) at 8 a.m. on Saturday, and will join many other volunteers in support of Earth Share, which is managing the Kingman Island cleanup

The main entrance for Kingman Island Park is on the west bank of the Anacostia River.

This is the only public entrance to the park.

"We are delighted to join the cleanup around Kingman and Heritage Islands Park," said Rigby. "The island park's diverse habitats are an ecological treasure in the District, and they are providing an educational resource by another of Pepco's environmental partners, Living Classrooms."
