Pepco will be Ready when Customers Complete Repairs to their Equipment
Safety will Guide the Restoration Effort
WASHINGTON , D.C. - Pepco crews have completed their initial assessment of the damage to the electrical equipment at Washington Harbor caused by Monday's massive flooding. The electrical equipment that was submerged underwater Monday caused outages for several customers including the escalators and elevators at the Foggy Bottom Metro Station. Power has been restored to customers outside the harbor complex, but it will take longer for Washington Harbor to repair its electrical equipment in order for Pepco to safely reconnect their facility to the power grid.
Robert Dempsey, Manager, Regional Resource says, "Pepco's crews have been fully involved in supporting our Washington Harbor customers from the inception of the flooding problem. We will be prepared when our Washington Harbor customers have completed their work and are able to have power restored. The key factor is safety, making sure that all necessary steps have been taken when the customer's equipment is energized."
