Pepco President Recognizes Local Youth at Awards Ceremony

Thomas Graham Presents Scholarship Award for Academic Merit during Event

WASHINGTON , D.C. - Pepco today takes part in an important scholastic achievement event honoring deserving high school students. Thomas Graham, President, Pepco Region, is one of several distinguished guests presenting awards for academic merit during the Mentors, Inc. Annual Graduation Celebration event. Mentors, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that provides mentoring support to public and charter high school students in Washington, D.C., and improves graduation rates and students' outlook for the future.

"The importance of mentoring our youth should never be understated," said Mr. Graham. "The ability to motivate, energize, and create a positive learning environment for our young people will generate that spark which prepares these students for that next step, which is future success."

Mentors, Inc. has provided mentors for students enrolled in the District of Columbia's public senior high schools since 1987. It is the only citywide, one-on-one mentoring program serving high school aged youth, focused on the relationship itself. More than merely tutors, our mentors are role models; they provide the guidance, support, knowledge, and love our young people need to become successful adults.

The awards ceremony is part of the 24th Annual Graduation Celebration held at the Venable Law Office rooftop and conference room, 575 Seventh Street NW , Washington, D.C.
