Pepco's Edison Place Gallery Features Exhibit on How D.C. Youth Use Art to Express Life Views

The photographs and writings of D.C. elementary, middle and high school students expressing their views on life issues including the causes, consequences and solutions to the dropout crisis will be on display at Pepco's Edison Place Gallery June 7 through July 1. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, June 9, from 6 - 8 p.m.

The exhibit is entitled "Both Sides of the Lens: The Faces and Stories of D.C. Youth" and features works of art from Critical Exposure, a nonprofit organization that teaches youth to use the power of photography and their own voices to advocate for school reform and social change.

Students whose works will be on display come from the D.C. public and charter school systems. Works of art from students in other cities also will be exhibited.

Gallery visitors will have an opportunity to view a multimedia piece that the students produced to promote the Critical Exposure program.

Pepco's Edison Place Gallery is located at 702 Eighth Street, NW, between G and H streets, one block west of the Verizon Center. The gallery is open Tuesday through Friday from 12 - 4 p.m. Admission is free.
