Pepco Calls Additional Resources to Help Restore Power after Severe Storm

Customers Affected by Storm Expected to be Restored by Mid-Day Monday

WASHINGTON - Pepco is restoring power to customers in the wake of a line of severe thunderstorms that at their peak caused more than 20,000 customers to lose power. The company has called in additional field crews and call center personnel to expedite power restoration and respond to customer inquiries. As of 8:00 p.m., Sunday, approximately 8,400 customers remain without power. Those customers include about 2,100 customers in Montgomery County, Md., 5,100 in Prince George's County, Md., and 1,200 in the District of Columbia. The company is assessing the damage and expects to have all customers affected by this storm restored by mid-day Monday, August 22nd. To keep current, customers are encouraged to visit frequently the Pepco website at pepco.com and listen to local radio for updates.

Pepco Encourages Safety Precautions

· Stay away from downed wires. Wires that are on the ground are hazardous and could be life-threatening.

· Call 1-877-PEPCO-62 (1-877-737-2662) and press "2" to report a downed wire.

Customers asked to report power outages

· Customers are asked to report outages at pepco.com or by calling 1-877-PEPCO-62 (1-877-737-2662) and pressing one for the automated system.
