Pepco Restores Power for Almost All Customers Impacted by Hurricane

Company Urges Customers to Continue to Report Power Outages

WASHINGTON - With power restored for almost all customers impacted by Hurricane Irene, Pepco urges all customers without power to continue to report outages.

The company continues to dispatch 1,400 line restoration workers to localized outage areas in parts of Maryland and the District of Columbia. The extensive damage associated with these outages makes restoring service especially challenging . Large trees caused most of the damage to the electrical equipment. The majority of remaining outages affect individual or small groups of customers.

"While we continue to work around-the-clock to restore power to every customer affected by Hurricane Irene, we urge all customers without power to stay in contact with our customer call centers ," said Thomas H. Graham, President, Pepco Region. " By responding to call-backs and reporting lingering outages, customers play an integral role in the company's ability to identify persistent, localized outages."

Pepco appreciates customers' patience and cautions that new o utages may occur as tree limbs continue to fall and disrupt service and crews switch main power lines off and on to allow them to work safely.

Pepco expects to restore service to all 220,000 of its customers impacted by the hurricane by Thursday evening. However, most of the remaining customers without power will have their service restored before that time.

Customers may report outages at pepco.com or by calling 1-877-PEPCO-62 (1-877-737-2662). During this massive storm, Pepco has received nearly 240,000 customer calls since Saturday and Call Center personnel have answered 98 percent of the calls within 30 seconds.
To keep up-to-date, customers are encouraged to visit the Pepco website frequently at www.pepco.com and review the outage map, follow us at www.twitter.com/PepcoConnect and listen to local radio stations for updates.
