Proceeds to Help Area Residents in Need Pay Winter Energy Bills
WASHINGTON - The PHI Community Foundation will hold its 6th Annual Golf and Tennis Classic on Monday, September 12, at The Country Club at Woodmore in Mitchellville, Maryland. The proceeds, derived from the sale of corporate sponsorships, will go directly to help low-income residents in the District of Columbia as well as Prince George's and Montgomery counties pay their winter energy bills.
"This year, in spite of a dire economy, our sponsors have really stepped up to the plate," said Thomas H. Graham, PHI Community Foundation President and President, Pepco Region. "Much like last year's efforts, we have sold out this year's event. Our corporate sponsors and community partners continue to lead the way through their generous financial support. We look forward to a great day of golf and tennis as well as having the opportunity to contribute more than $225,000 to help our fellow residents."
Proceeds from the tournament will be distributed through the PHI Community Foundation to residents served by the Greater Washington Urban League in the District of Columbia, the United Communities Against Poverty in Prince George's County and Interfaith Works in Montgomery County.
Since its inception, the tournament has raised more than $1,200,000 for area charities.
