Pepco's Edison Place Art Gallery to Exhibit Life Pieces To Masterpieces "Creating Art - Changing Lives"

Phenomenal Youth Art Program Returns to Edison Place Art Gallery October 11 through October 28, 2011

WASHINGTON - Pepco's Edison Art Place Gallery will again host Life Pieces To Masterpieces (LPTM), "Creating Art and Changing Lives." Life Pieces To Masterpieces is an organization that guides its members to change life challenges into possibilities using various forms of art. Members are African American males, between the ages of three and 21 who live in the District of Columbia.

The upcoming exhibition at the Pepco Edison Place Art Gallery commemorates the fifteenth anniversary of Life Pieces To Masterpieces (LPTM), "Creating Art and Changing Lives." It features some of LPTM finest works and is as a crucial fundraising initiative, to earn revenue and expose the work to potential supporters across the region.

"Our Life Pieces To Masterpieces exhibits in 2004 and 2009 were overwhelming successes," said Debbi Jarvis, Vice President Corporate Citizenship & Social Responsibility. "The success of this year's exhibit will ensure that Life Pieces To Masterpieces continues to provide opportunities for its members to discover and activate their innate and creative abilities."

In the past 15 years, the organization has changed the lives of over 1,000 young men living east of the Anacostia River. This exhibition, which features works from various periods in LPTM history, is a visual celebration of the organization's success and more importantly, of the successes of the young men.

The Life Pieces To Masterpieces, exhibit opens to the public on October 11. A reception and Artist Talk will be held on Saturday, October 15 from 2 - 4 p.m. also open to the public. Pepco's Edison Place Art Gallery is located at 702 Eighth Street, NW between G and H streets, one block west of the Verizon Center. The Gallery is open Tuesday through Friday from 12 - 4 p.m. Admission is free.
