WASHINGTON, D.C. - Pepco crews are working to repair one of two electric feeder cables that provide power to trains on the Orange Line in the area of the Deanwood station.
Metro had experienced problems with its electric equipment, leaving the third rail in the Deanwood area with one power source that was disrupted this morning by a cable failure.
To access the cable problem and safely make the repairs, Pepco crews are pumping water from flooded manholes. That flooding is making it difficult for crews to reach the cable and will cause them to work through the night to repair it.
Due to the extent of the repairs that includes draining the manholes and splicing cable, Pepco estimates the problem will be corrected early tomorrow morning.
