Pepco Launches Online Information Campaign to Educate Customers About Smart Meters

Interactive Websites Kick Off "Get Ready to Take Control" Education Campaign
in the District and in Maryland

WASHINGTON , D.C. - Pepco is kicking off its "Get Ready to Take Control" campaign with the launch of two new websites that will educate customers about the smart meters that are being installed in Maryland and the District of Columbia.

District customers should visit www.takecontroldc.com and Maryland customers should visit www.takecontrolmaryland.com to learn more about the two-way digital devices that offer a series of benefits to both the customer and utility.

The new "Take Control" websites include general information about smart meters, and energy saving tips to show customers how smart meters can help manage energy costs and consumption.

"Once the meters are activated, customers are able to view their detailed energy usage online through the company's Web-based energy analysis tool My Account, enabling them to make informed decisions about how and when to use energy," said Thomas Graham, President, Pepco Region. "These benefits will be available to Pepco D.C. customers beginning in late 2011 and to Maryland customers beginning in June 2012."

The informational websites will evolve and continue to be a source of assistance to customers throughout the smart meter deployment and during the activation of future benefits.

Also, as part of the smart meter customer education initiative, specialized customer care "Energy Advisors" are on hand during business hours to answer questions. To speak with an "Energy Advisor," customers can call 202-833-7500.
