Top Executive who oversees Electric System to Lead Saturday Cleanup

Washington, D.C. -- Pepco's "Green Team" will be out in force on Saturday, April 21, helping to clean up the shoreline along the Anacostia River. Leading Pepco's team will be Mike Maxwell, Vice President, Asset Management Pepco Holdings Inc., the utility's parent firm.

"Pepco continues to support the Anacostia Watershed Society in its commitment to restore the natural beauty of the Anacostia River. It is a resource shared by all who live and work in the nation's capital that can once again be a source of recreation and most importantly, clean water," said Maxwell.

Pepco "Green Team" volunteers will gather on Saturday morning, and will join many other volunteers in support of the Anacostia Watershed Society, which is managing the Kingman Island cleanup

The main entrance for Kingman Island Park is on the west bank of the Anacostia River. This is the only public entrance to the park.

"Last year's turnout was outstanding," Maxwell said. More than 60 members of Pepco's "Green Team," which included employees and their family members, and over 100 other volunteers came out to clean up the shoreline along the Kingman Island area of the Anacostia River. The volunteer cleanup effort filled two industrial, 40-yard refuse containers with trash and recyclable materials, including baseballs and basketballs, Maxwell said.

"I am very proud that Pepco's "Green Team" was there in force to help restore the world's most valuable resource-clean water," he said.
