Pepco offers rebates for ENERGY STAR appliances

WASHINGTON - Pepco is encouraging Maryland residential customers to take advantage of our Appliance Rebate Program during the state's tax-free weekend, Feb. 16-18. This weekend, customers will not have to pay the state's 6 percent sales tax when they purchase select ENERGY STAR® certified products such as standard- size refrigerators, washing machines, room air conditioners, dehumidifiers, freezers, water heaters, heat pumps and compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs).

"Combining Pepco's appliance rebates with the Shop Maryland Energy tax savings this weekend is a great opportunity for residential customers, who can also take advantage of various retailers' Presidents Day sales," said Thomas H. "We are committed to helping our customers save energy and are proud to offer rebates on ENERGY STAR certified products, which deliver the quality our customers need and expect."

Pepco paid more than 13,000 rebates to Maryland residential customers in 2012 for the purchase of energy efficient appliances. The value of the appliance rebates ranges from $25 to $350. Rebate forms are available in stores and at pepco.com/ApplianceRebates. Residential customers can expect to receive rebate checks within six to eight weeks from Pepco's receipt of their rebate applications. The Appliance Rebate Program is part of Pepco's portfolio of energy efficiency programs that are designed to support Gov. Martin O'Malley's EmPOWER Maryland initiative to reduce energy consumption in the state by 15 percent by the year 2015.
