Some 80 firms attend Utility's Second Supplier Diversity Forum

Washington, D.C. - Pepco held its second Supplier Diversity Forum on Thursday, July 25, at Pepco Holdings, Inc.'s Edison Place headquarters. The forum was attended by more than 80 diverse suppliers from throughout the Washington Metropolitan area. Pepco region president Thomas H. Graham served as moderator of the program.

The event focused on serving disabled veteran owned businesses, and those certified as minority and woman owned business enterprises in the region.

"It was the best supplier diversity forum they had ever attended," was the reaction from several of the business owners, said Graham adding, "This forum was an exchange of ideas and information designed to enhance the opportunities for diverse suppliers to form business relationships with Pepco and PHI."

In 2012, Pepco made nearly $55 million in payments to diverse suppliers.

The attendees participated in a panel discussion that included representatives from the Maryland Governor's Office of Minority Affairs, the Maryland Public Service Commission, the District of Columbia Office of Small & Local Business Development and the District of Columbia Public Service Commission. Additionally, a networking session was held with executives of Pepco Holdings, Inc. from the departments of Asset Management, Supplier Diversity, Operations, Human Resources, Customer Care, Information Technology, Corporate Communications and Pepco Energy Services.

"My hope is that the participants left the forum with a more informed perspective of how the supplier diversity process relates to our business ventures at Pepco and PHI," said Graham.
