Utility First District Business in to Ring the Kettle Bell for 2013
Washington, D.C. - Pepco will have the pleasure to be the first business to ring the bell to kick off the 2013 Salvation Army Red Kettle Season. Representatives of the Salvation Army National Capital Area Command will help kick off the bell ringing at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Pepco headquarters located at 701 9th St., NW.
"Pepco is pleased to partner with the Salvation Army on this community effort. Donations to the Salvation Army provide Christmas dinners, clothing, and toys for families in need. Along with seasonal aid, the financial assistance helps with basic necessities," said Donna Cooper, president, Pepco Region. "
The Salvation Army endeavors to bring the true meaning of the season to those it serves so that the days of caring and sharing extend throughout the entire year. Volunteers distribute gifts to people in hospitals and nursing homes, and shelters are open for sit-down dinners. Many in need continue to receive aid over a period of months after the holiday season, including families of prisoners and people struggling with difficult emotional or employment problems
Following the season kickoff, Pepco's official Red Kettle Campaign will run from Dec. 2 through Dec. 18. During that period, Pepco volunteers will ring the Red Kettle bell daily at Edison Place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
